Bike Across America Trip Never Really Happened!

(Steve Tearfully Admits Lying About The Whole Thing To Impress Women and Get Attention - April 1, 2008)

Liar BUENA VISTA, CO -- Steve "Colorado Guy" Garufi tearfully admitted this morning that all the pictures and articles on this web site about bicycling across America were completely fabricated. The supposed adventure never happened and Steve lied about the whole thing to impress women and get a whole lot of attention from people.

"I woke up this morning with my conscience waying heavily on me." Steve admitted, "I knew it was time to come clean and stop the lies."

News of the massive, two-month-long campaign of deception had many people outraged.

"You are the biggest jackass I have ever known. That is the most twisted thing you have ever done!" wrote Genny, a friend and loyal follower of Steve's trip who even wasted time praying for Steve to be safe on the road.

"I had my entire church group praying for you every week and you're going to tell me we were wasting our time?!" she screamed.

"So this was all a lie?! You (expletive)!" blurted Julie at Bongo Billy's Cafe, upon hearing the news this morning.

According to Steve, not much bicycling actually happened. Many of the pictures already being shown in the first week of the pretend bike ride were actually taken near his home. He stated the sudden attention he received from females motivated him to continue the lying.

Liar Liar "It started with me lying about the trip to girls on the phone and on my myspace page. Before I knew it, I was Mr. Popular and all these attractive women were calling, texting me and showing they were really into me." Steve contended, "It just kind of snowballed from there."

Steve broke down emotionally when he spoke about all the people he deceived. He admitted sending bogus text messages to the owners of his gym everyday for over seven weeks, who tracked him on a large map of the United States for all gym members to see.

He also went along with lying to family and closest friends, saying he was in states like New Mexico, Texas and Arkansas, when he was really just sitting on his ass on a couch in his living room.

After fabricating the entire trip and acting like he had just gotten home, he allowed his pastor to declare him a "celebrity" to the entire congregation, with bogus pictures of him with his bike shown on a big screen.

"The enormity of this scam has driven me to drink and smoke. It's all downhill from here." wrote Tom on the Friendship Board.

Steve admitted he totally screwed up. "I don't blame anyone if they never believe anything I ever say again." he said.
