After San Luis, I drove north to the small town of Fort Garland
and visited the Fort Garland Museum. This was a relatively small and minor fort
in old western days and was abandoned before the turn of the 20th century. Still, all of the buildings have
been restored and the museum offers a lot of information about Colorado's
history during the settlement era. (Top photo: The Sangre De Cristo Mountains in the background with a large U.S. flag in the middle of the museum grounds.) |

Mountain Scenery In The San Luis Valley - Sangre De Cristo Mountains

With it being such a bright and sunny day in the 50's,
I couldn't help but pull over frequently to take various pictures of the
Sangre De Cristo Mountains.
