I headed towards Cottonwood Pass at about 7 p.m. planning to photograph the
sunset that would be happening at 8:20 p.m. With time to kill, I slowly wandered up the canyon and played
around with photographing the many aspens in the area.
There are something about the aspens of Colorado, ain't there?! ;) |
 |
The lighting on Jones Mountain looked much different in the evening. |
 |
Heading up the canyon and killing more time! A shot
of a small creek running unusually hard from the snow melt and a shot of the ever-melting
snow drifts along Cottonwood Pass Road. |
 |
At the Cottonwood Pass summit, but still waiting for the "sunset show"
to really begin. This reminded me a lot of the anticipation and waiting one might experience before a Fourth of July fireworks show! :) |
 |
The sunset began with some flair around 8:05 p.m. I like this shot of the
"Leaving Chaffee County" sign! ;) |
 |
Ahhhhhhh! Looking straight out west. Here are many of my pages of this region:
Cottonwood Pass (September 2004)
Cottonwood Pass (October 2005)
Bike Up Cottonwood Pass (May 2006)
Mt. Yale Hike, Mt. Yale Pictures
West Cottonwood Pass Road
Mt. Princeton Hike, Mt. Princeton Pictures
Independence Pass |

Just beautiful! :) |
 |
And just look at all the
snow that's still way up there! The
temperature was probably only 20 degrees and the winds made it feel colder! |
 |
One shot of me. It was a great evening! :) |
